ATTENTION—current update—there’s less water in the well due to the drought. You can pour your own clean drinking water into the pump from above to get the piston moving, or—during these dry days—it’s best not to rely on the drinking water on the property.
There’s a small grill available by the table—please put it back in its place after use.
There are almost no permanent residents in the village; a few vacationers come over on the weekends.
The most beautiful time here is late afternoon, when the afternoon sun shines on the property and you can’t help but gaze across the little valley at the church of St. John in Sačany on the opposite side. On hot days, you’ll appreciate the generous shade in the corner of the property, which lasts most of the day.
The property stretches down to a small stream, though water is scarce there during these dry years; nevertheless, the lower part of the property is moister, and it’s safe to build a fire there in the prepared fire pit. There is plenty of firewood available, but please keep in mind that others will be coming after you.
The fruit on the old fruit trees is freely available to you; just be careful—we don’t maintain the trees in any way, and they’ve seen a lot over the years. If you break a branch, please drag it over to the fire pit...
Set up your tents at the top on a flat area, where there is a seating area and a small swing.
About 300 m from the property are two private ponds; the smaller one (which is also farther along the path—see description below; you’ll recognize it by the maintained entry into the water and the “Radil” fishing cabin) is great for swimming—already tested this year (with the owner’s permission). Or we can drive over to Bohdaneč, where the swimming spot is fantastic (see description below).
Some guests pointed out that it’s worth mentioning that the path to the pond goes past an apiary—about 100 m away.
The clear water provides a wonderful refreshment even in the heat. The access to the water has been cleared, and the bottom is rocky—you don’t have to worry about mud. You’ll have only dragonflies for company.
Cell service is spotty on the property, and internet is only available occasionally—peace and quiet are guaranteed. If you absolutely need a reliable signal, head out to the chapel in Sychrov—there’s no problem there...
Since we often come here as a group of several families with children, we’re open to individual arrangements and can accommodate up to 4 tents, provided their occupants can reach us without cars or RVs. Send us an inquiry!

- ATTENTION - DUE TO THE PROLONGED DROUGHT, THE WATER LEVEL IN THE WELL HAS DROPPED - AS OF JULY 8, 2025, THE PROPERTY IS (TEMPORARILY, WE BELIEVE) WITHOUT A SOURCE OF POTABLE WATER - WE ARE WAITING FOR RAIN.
There is a drinking water well right on top of the property that is also used by one of the adjacent houses. The water is pumped by a pump - you have to pump at least 30 times, but it has had some use and is being used minimally. The water therefore has various natural impurities in it and we strongly recommend filtering it for peace of mind and body.

- For this purpose, preferably use the bottom corner of the plot near the nettle edge or the top compost. Please use gentle detergents.

Access to the property may be difficult in rainy weather
From Bela, a paved road between fields, passable without snow even for ordinary cars without 4x4. If you want the security of asphalt, then choose the road from Vrbka also directly to the property.Ice can be a problem, because both directions go up a steep hill.
Restriction of the access road
Our recommended point of entry to the site is 4 metres wide. It can be entered "in front" or reversed - depending on your preference and the requirements for the caravan opening. So park perpendicular to the road, do not drive right or left towards the table, so as not to unnecessarily rut the area.We recommend that you do not manoeuvre on the plot. Before the area starts to slope downwards, you have 10 m where you can put the car nicely.Under no circumstances should you drive into the part of the plot above the upper compost heap towards the pump, i.e. right next to the cottage - the plot is very waterlogged, the soil is very soft.

When you drive out of Sychrov in any direction, a variety of forest paths, small roads or cycle paths will open up in front of you. The cycling route 0097 passes through Bělá and connects to the Posázava long-distance cycling route 19.The asphalt forest paths between Třebětín, Bludov and Bohdančí are great for riding with children.Or a surprisingly not very hilly trip from Třebětín to Hostkovice and the yellow trail to Leština u Světlá, with an ideal detour to the small unexpected ruins of Chlum, where children will be surprised by the freely accessible castle cellars.If you want to go to the Posázava hills, then the ideal destination is Světlá nad Sázavou, Lipnice nad Sázavou with quarries, Jaroslav Hašek's house and the famous castle...If you dare to go further, you will enjoy the downhill to Čáslav, but the way back will be mostly uphill.A similar direction is Golčův Jeníkov, which few people have known, but it will pleasantly surprise you with its Jewish quarter or Jesuit residence... Zruč nad Sázavou (www.zamek-zruc.cz) is a great destination for a day trip, where the well-restored Zruč castle and the surrounding park offer a lot of attractions (e.g. the Water Museum, for girls the World of Dolls -www.zamek-zruc.cz/svet-kosticek-a-panenek).

water sports
It is not for nothing that this region is compared to the Třeboň region - there are many water bodies here, we choose the tried and tested ones, not just the natural ones (although we prefer them). Right in Sychrov, tucked away in a private romantic pond with clear water, where you'll run into at most someone from our family... - this year's insufficient rainfall has already manifested itself in the lack of oxygen in the water and the death of fish. We don't recommend swimming here these weeks.
The excellent and clean Dubí pond is located below the village of Kotoučov, above Bohdančí, at a distance of 4.5 km - we managed to observe a kingfisher swimming and a common snail is a regular co-swimmer here.
The Buda sandpit, a short walk from the Horka nad Sázavou train station, can be a good destination for a day trip. The water is great, don't expect refreshment stands, which we are glad for.
If you need more excitement around, there is the Kutná Hora water park (www.tjsparta-kh.cz/clanky/plovarna.html) or the famous quarries in Lipnice nad Sázavou...
The more distant Lovětínský Pond is located near the ruins of Lichnice Castle in the Iron Mountains, which in itself is a great destination for a day trip.

You can walk to the children's playground in Bela on the village square or to the Bohdanka lookout tower (currently closed for technical reasons), where there is also a children's cable car... There is also a new ham shop with excellent local beer in Bohdanec...
Older children can go to the Agnes Rope Centre in Bohdanec.
It's great to spend a day with the kids around the castle in Zruč nad Sázavou - our boys especially recommend the local go-karting (www.mesto-zruc.cz/volny-cas/zruc-detem/detske-dopravni-hriste/). The girls will enjoy the aforementioned World of Dolls, all the children the Milota Knight Trail (www.zamek-zruc.cz/stezka-rytire-miloty-z-kolowrat).
Children's railway enthusiasts will love the Cologne Beet Groove (www.reparskadrazka.cz) - again, we tried it several times :).
Many different activities are on offer in Kutná Hora, as you can imagine (www.rodinacestuje.cz/2020/06/19/kutna-hora-s-detmi/), but for kids the Dačický House (www.dacickehodum.cz) is really special, with a modern and great for kids to digest interactive exhibition about the history of the town. Even adults will enjoy this very successfully restored monument.

The landscape of Vysočina and Posázaví is undulating, you will not be impressed by rocky peaks, but rather by gentle green hills with deeply incised valleys and forests. The landscape is very rugged.Many of the places recommended elsewhere are also suitable for hiking. Of those not mentioned, we particularly recommend the neighbouring village of Tasice with its ancient glassworks (www.facebook.com/HutJakubTasice/), where the series Sons and Daughters of Jacob the Glassmaker was filmed. Although the Jakub glassworks is no longer used for regular production, it functions as a glassmaking open-air museum and the events here are worth a repeat visit (http://www.sklarnatasice.cz/).A pleasant walk can be taken to the village of Podhradí u Sázavy with the Šlitra Cottage and the small ruin of Chřenovice. You can get here along the Jestřebnice brook, which flows through our favourite and above mentioned pond.Take a walk to the Bohdanka lookout tower in Bohdanec, from where you can see the Krkonoše Mountains in good visibility. Surprisingly, it is the highest building made of "round wood" in the Czech Republic and supposedly in Europe...It is a must to go through the rocky Stvořidla on the Sázava River (beware, only really skilled porters bring their strollers :)).Try Melechov (715 m) on the other bank of the Sázava River.

The fruit on the fruit trees is available to you - but remember that these are old, unmaintained trees - we do not guarantee the strength of the branches.After your pet, put the "products" in the compost heap.There you can also dispose of other compostable waste. We have two where the grass clippings are lying - upper and lower - the piles of grass cannot be missed.You can drop your recyclables in the colourful containers at the top of the Sychrov chapel, in Vrbka or in Bela at the village square. There is also a bin at the Coop that can carry a small amount of waste that you need to get rid of urgently.For "jumping off" purposes, use the lower part of the property on the left (with the maples behind) where the stream runs away and there is a wall of nettles - sometimes we cut a passage through the nettles further on...Evening sitting with a musical instrument is more suitable down in the area by the fireplace, where the voice will carry into the uninhabited valley. Larger, noisy groups who prefer loud music are asked to choose a different sleeping area.

Beautiful land. We especially appreciated the peace, quiet and plenty of privacy. The land was well maintained and mowed, there was water from the well and wood for the campfire. We would love to return here in the future.

Beautiful multi-level plot in an absolutely quiet location. Some parts slightly waterlogged after rain, but nothing that would prevent a trouble-free stay. There was also plenty of firewood available. I can only recommend it.
