The property is beautiful, though access and parking may be more difficult in wet weather since it’s a bit sloped. The location is great—it’s really peaceful there. The property is well-maintained.
What spoiled our experience: Before arriving, we first contacted the owner in writing to let her know roughly when we’d arrive, then called her 10 minutes before we got there. She told us to just drive in as we pleased and didn’t come out to show us to the property. We spent a lovely afternoon and a peaceful evening there.
The next day, after returning from our trip, we went to cool off in the pond (which is shown in the photos and mentioned repeatedly in previous guests’ reviews, with no mention anywhere that it’s off-limits), the owner came by—we saw her for the first time—and immediately started lecturing us that the pond isn’t part of the property, but since we were already there, we might as well go for a swim. Then she started asking us all sorts of strange questions, like whether we’d ordered electricity (yes, we did), whether we’d paid for water (? I still don’t really understand that—drinking water is listed in the description, and there was no option to pay for water), and that this wasn’t a campground. The owner’s attitude really took us by surprise; we were at a loss for words at that moment. (She was nice to the guests who arrived after us, so she knows how to be friendly, but we must have upset her somehow— we just don’t know what yet; when my husband stopped by to see her at the restaurant later, she pretended not to see him, so the issue was never resolved).
This is why I’m not giving a full rating. Otherwise, the campsite is nice, and if you’re lucky and don’t upset the owner, you’ll definitely enjoy your stay there;)
An amazing place, a beautifully maintained garden with a view of the ponds, and the surrounding area is great for hiking and biking. There's a fantastic restaurant run by the owners almost right across the street.
Everything was fine. We especially appreciate the size of the property - even with a full capacity of three cars, people do not disturb each other here. We were very satisfied.
